Rosstat reports that from June last year to June this year, the greatest increase in prices was demonstrated by frozen vegetables, nuts and dried fruits - goods with an average cost of up to 500 rubles per kilogram. The growth in the cost of these goods was significantly affected by the fall in the ruble exchange rate recorded in the second half of 2014. As a result, prices for imported products predictably increased, buyers began to look for cheaper products, and some stores increased prices. of the most popular products. Thus, since June 2014, the price of nuts in Russia has increased by more than 80%, amounting to 564.5 rubles per kilogram (an increase from 311.5 rubles). Dried fruits rose in price over the same period by 64.6%, to 286.8 rubles per kilogram (from 174.2 rubles). The cost of frozen vegetables increased by 59.5% over the year, averaging 195.1 rubles per kilogram (from 122.4 rubles). According to experts, the food embargo imposed last summer also influenced the rise in prices. At the same time, there were other factors - for example, Türkiye increased the cost of hazelnuts due to crop failure due to frost. Another nut supplier, Azerbaijan, also raised hazelnut prices ahead of the collapse of the ruble and the introduction of a production bargo.
